Digital Nomad Groups

Complete Trips

The following companies organize complete trips for digital nomads, anywhere from two weeks to 1 year+ (most companies stay in a location for one month before moving to the next).

It is essential that you bring work, as the other participants will be working during the days. Excursion and adventuring usually happen in the evening and on weekends. All of these organizations have a screening and interview process in order to make sure you’re a fit. With a lot of these companies, you can take a 12 month trip around the world for under $30K USD- that’s about the same cost as your monthly expenses at home in North America (and that’s even before the tax write-offs!).

Who knew traveling abroad could be so affordable?!

Hacker Paradise

Hacker Paradise is one of the most flexible options for working and traveling abroad. They offer retreats for as little as 2 weeks to as much as permanent travel with the group. The $2100 monthly fee includes private accommodations close to co-working spaces (which are also included), weekly housekeeping, a SIM card and even a weekly meal with the group. They do lots of killer day trips and other activities. If you plan to travel with them for more than 30 days, your monthly fee decreases the more you travel.

With a new location every month, Hacker Paradise has retreats that cover most of the globe in one year of travel. You could do a quasi trip around the world for around $25k by traveling with them for the year.

Wifi Tribe

Wifi Tribe focusses on building cohesive travel groups that stay together for longer periods of time. As such, the screening may be more comprehensive than some of the others- it includes an interview and personality test. Once you pay the membership cost ($300) you gain permanent access to the group. Trips are a little less costly (on average) than Hacker Paradise, but also have less perks included. The groups often work from their accommodations instead of from a coworking space, and adventuring is more spontaneous. Groups decide on excursions from week to week instead of having many planned activities like Hacker Paradise. Just like many of the other travel groups, the more you travel the more you save.

One of the biggest perks of Wifi Tribe is that they offer multiple locations simultaneously. That means you can choose between 2-6 locations every month and build your own itinerary. They also allow members to stay for up to 4 months in certain locations.

With multiple trip options every month, Wifi Tribe covers 5 continents in one year. You could build your own trip around the world for around $15k (shared accommodations) or $20k (private accommodations).

Unsettled

Unsettled offers retreats from 14 to 30 days in over 12 locations around the globe. Every retreat is unique- some of them are working retreats, and some of them are digital detox retreats (like the sailing adventure through the British Virgin Islands, or the trip deep into the Amazon rainforest). Unsettled possibly attracts a larger age demographic than some of the other ones. While Hacker Paradise, Wifi Tribe, and Remote Year are mainly 20 and 30-somethings (on average), Unsettled has had participants anywhere from 20-somethings to 60-somethings. They encourage participants to present and teach their knowledge to other travellers in the group through workshops and other events.

Unsettled offers multiple locations per month, and they repeat several of the destinations throughout the year, which means date options for every location.

If you’re looking for different types of retreats, inspiration, adventure, or if you’re going through a big life change and need some perspective, Unsettled may be the answer.

Remote Year

Remote Year offers continent trips of 4 months (4 cities in 4 months) or a trip around the world in 12 months (12 cities in 12 months). A trip around the world costs $29K ($5k upfront and 2k per month during the trip).

Accommodations Only

The following companies provide accommodation and reliable workspace with other travelers, just in case you like planning your own adventures (with a side of socializing). You can book for any length of time, although some locations have a minimum stay. Most locations also have discounts for extended stays.

Outsite

Outsite provides shared house and loft accommodations (with private or shared rooms). They have around 15 amazing properties around the world. Most of their locations are American, but they also have other locations in Portugal, Indonesia, Switzerland, Chile, and Costa Rica. You’re guaranteed to meet interesting people no matter where you stay, and some Outsite locations have networking dinners or other social events occasionally. Many of the locations also have additional perks like barbecues, surfboards or bikes that are included with your stay. All properties have shared kitchens and living space, and most of them also have laundry machines.

Roam

Roam provides private rooms in coliving spaces around the world. They have 5 locations: Miami, Tokyo, Bali, London, and San Francisco. Every room includes a private bathroom and is fully furnished with a queen or king-sized bed.
